  • Descrizione: as we sat at our desks with heads down, we were spellbound by the adventures of nancy drew and the hardy boys. the afternoon story time gave us something in common and unique from other fifth‐grade classes. we renew ourselves, bond with others, and experience life's fundamental significance in our everyday liturgy. ritual enables us to act out in a collective setting what otherwise is unseen and hard to touch or comprehend. rituals become powerful when they communicate deeper, multiple messages. we need to revive ritual as the spiritual fuel required to energize and breathe life and a deeper sense of purpose back into our schools. learning is fostered in large part by strong traditions, frequent ritual, authentic celebrations, and poignant ceremonies to reinvigorate cultural cohesion, connect to a higher purpose, and focuses on broader educational ends. rituals are periodic meaning‐filled interactions that are key to reinforcing, renewing, and reenergizing cultures.
